Gallup to Kayenta

Well, Gallup was a strange place! A bit like an abandoned mine town populated by Navahoe indians. A long strip town flanked by a railroad and 2 motor ways! Fast food joints, indian 'craft' shops and pawn shops abounded!

Anyway...... today....
Went to Canyon de Chelly - lovely. Was home to ancient tribes.
Then on to Four Corners - the only place in the USA where 4 states meet; Arizona,  Utah, New Mexico and Colorado.

We are now in a lovely motel in Kayenta - a very small town - just going out for some scran.

Roswell to Gallup

Very long drive today with a stop at a small town (preserved) called Lincoln. This is where Pat Garrett was Sheriff and from where Billy the Kid escaped, killing some men in the process as he fled the court house. Garrett, at a letter date, shot the Kid dead in Fort Summer some miles away.

Also en route, we stopped at the continental divide which was good.

More Roswell...

We also went to a little zoo, a NM Museum and drove out to a State Park called Bottomless Lakes. VERY hot - over 100°F!

Roswell - home of the UFO Museum.

Stayed at Rodeway Hotel - very comfy and good brekkie :-)
Really helpful woman at Visitor Center who gave us a bundle of leaflets in a UFO Evidence Bag!
Looked around town, museum and ufo museum - very good :-)
